Magnitude Six Earthquake Jolts Parts of Pakistan

Islamabad: A powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.0 jolted several parts of Pakistan, including the federal capital Islamabad, in the early hours of Monday. The seismic event prompted immediate reactions as residents felt the ground shake beneath them.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the National Seismic Monitoring Centre of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that the quake's epicenter was located in southeastern Afghanistan. The tremors emanated from a depth of 15 kilometers below the surface in the Hindu Kush Mountains.

The earthquake's effects were felt in numerous cities, including Peshawar, Mardan, Murree, Chakwal, Taxila, Wah Cantt, Hangu, Malakand, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Lahore, and Islamabad. The unexpected shaking induced panic among the populace, leading many to evacuate their homes and offices in search of safety.

Despite the intensity of the earthquake, there have been no reports of property damage or casualties, providing some relief amidst the widespread alarm.
