Macron Announces France’s Plan to Recognize Palestinian State in September

Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed on Thursday that Paris has decided to officially recognize the Palestinian state, aligning with its commitment to achieving permanent and fair peace in the Middle East region. Tweeting on "X", Macron announced that this significant move would be declared during his speech before the UN General Assembly in September.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Macron emphasized that peace is attainable but requires a collective responsibility and encouragement. He highlighted the immediate need to end the ongoing war in Gaza, stressing the importance of saving civilians. He called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and increased humanitarian aid access to Gazans.

Macron reiterated the French people's desire for peace in the Middle East, assuring that France will continue its efforts in collaboration with Israelis, Palestinians, and its European and international partners to achieve this goal. Furthermore, he disclosed that he has received commitments from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on some essential points, underscoring the potential for progress in the peace process.
