Tripoli: The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences on Sunday reported an earthquake measuring 4.3 degrees on the Richter Scale happened off the country's western coast. The epicenter of the earthquake, monitored by international seismological centers, was located in the southern shores of the Mediterranean. The tremor occurred at 3:16 a.m. (local time), approximately 49 kilometers from Misrata and 229 kilometers from the capital, Tripoli.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Libyan center stated that the quake happened in remote locations, though it was sensed in the regions close to the western coast. Despite the seismic activity, no substantial damage or casualties were reported, underscoring the minor impact of the offshore quake.
