Beirut: The Lebanese Armed Forces announced on Monday that it had reinforced their positioning on the border with Syria and retaliated to fire coming from Syrian territory.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Army's command stated that northeastern border villages and towns around Al-Qasr, in the Hermel district, were subjected to shelling from Syrian territory, which prompted the army to respond with weapons and control the security situation.
Two Syrians were killed and another injured on the Lebanese-Syrian border near Al-Qasr on Sunday. The injured man was transferred to a hospital but later died. The Army subsequently implemented security measures and conducted rigorous calls all night, resulting in the delivery of the three bodies to the Syrian side.
The statement also confirmed the ongoing calls between the Lebanese Army Command and the Syrian authorities to maintain security and stability in the border area. The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported Sunday that a number of rockets had fallen in the border town of Al-Qasr, coming from the Al-Qusayr countryside in Syria.
