Kuwait’s Namaa Charity Distributes 250 Food Baskets in Somali Camp

Kuwait city: Kuwait's Namaa Charity, associated with the Social Reform Society, has distributed food baskets to over 250 individuals residing in the Garasbaaley camp near Mogadishu, Somalia. This effort was undertaken in collaboration with the local Zamzam Foundation as part of a humanitarian initiative aimed at bolstering food security in areas facing vulnerability.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Khaled Mubarak Al-Shamri, who heads the Development and Relief Sector at Namaa Charity, stated that the food baskets contained essential items. He highlighted that beneficiaries were identified through meticulous field studies conducted alongside local partners to ensure that aid reached those most in need.

Al-Shamri extended his gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for their unwavering support for humanitarian initiatives. He stressed that Kuwait has emerged as a global humanitarian hub, bringing pride through its commitment to giving.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Ministries of Social Affairs and Foreign Affairs in facilitating charitable organizations' efforts. Al-Shamri noted that Kuwait aims to go beyond emergency relief by implementing sustainable development projects that provide long-term benefits and uphold human dignity.

Chairman of the Zamzam Foundation, Shuaib Abdullatif, expressed gratitude towards Kuwait and its leadership, noting that the collaboration with Namaa Charity serves as a successful example of humanitarian cooperation. He highlighted the project's positive impact on numerous families within the camp and expressed the foundation's desire for more collaborative humanitarian and development efforts in the future.
