Kuwait city: Today, a series of significant events in the history of Kuwait were commemorated, marking milestones in areas ranging from international diplomacy to advancements in medical infrastructure.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the historical journey includes the 1997 launch of the weekly parliamentary publication "Al-Dustour," led by Editor-in-Chief Sheridah Al-Muousherji. In 2000, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia successfully concluded the demarcation of their joint maritime borders, culminating in an agreement signed by Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal.
That same year, Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah awarded Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Order, recognizing Saudi Arabia's support of Kuwaiti interests. In a reciprocal gesture, Prince Abdullah honored Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad with the King Abdulaziz Order, the highest Saudi medal.
In 2004, Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah was elected President of the Asian Bowling Federation, showcasing Kuwait's influence in the sporting arena. Fast forward to 2018, Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah inaugurated the state-of-the-art Al-Jahra Medical City, a KD-364-million facility with a 1,234-bed capacity.
The year 2020 saw the Kuwait Government lifting the full quarantine on Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Mahboula, while still maintaining medical readiness for potential COVID-19 outbreaks. More recently, in 2022, Dr. Dalal Al-Taweel from Kuwait University's Faculty of Pharmacology was recognized by the International Pharmaceutical Federation as one of 20 emerging stars in her field, underlining the country's contributions to pharmaceutical science and education.
