Kuwait’s Historical Milestones Highlighted

Al Asimah: A series of significant events have marked Kuwait's history, showcasing its development in various fields. Among these, the establishment of the National Bank of Kuwait in 1952 stands out as a pioneering financial institution in the State of Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf region. According to Kuwait News Agency, 1999 saw the passing of Fahad Al-Duwairi, a prominent literary figure known for his contributions to Kadhma Magazine since 1948, at the age of 78. In the realm of theater, Kuwaiti director Fuad Al-Shatti gained recognition in 2000 by becoming a member of the higher theater council, regarded as the world's top theatrical assembly. In environmental achievements, 2008 marked a significant year when the Kuwait National Committee for the protection of the ozone received an award from the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington D.C. for its efforts in ozone protection. Furthermore, in 2015, Kuwait was chosen by the Arab Standing Cultural Committee as the Arab Cultural Capital for 2022, ac knowledging its cultural influence. The year 2016 was notable for Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, as it received the Science and Technology Prize from the Islamic Development Bank for its contributions to social and economic development in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Additionally, the Kuwait Embassy in France confirmed the tragic demise of Abdulmohsen Al-Mutairi in an EgyptAir plane crash, with the plane en route from Paris to Cairo, carrying 66 people, including the crew. In 2021, the Council of Governmental Universities took a significant step by approving the establishment of a council general secretariat, marking progress in the country's educational governance.
