Kuwait City: Kuwait has witnessed several significant developments throughout its history, ranging from the establishment of its first public transport company to impactful measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the journey of Kuwait's public transport began in 1925 with the operation of its first company, connecting Kuwait to Iraq's Basra City. This development marked a crucial step in improving transportation and facilitating travel between the two regions.
In 1955, the social affairs department of Kuwait issued its inaugural budget, estimated at over four million rupees. This budget aimed to regulate various sectors, including employment, social care, sports clubs, and theaters, showcasing Kuwait's commitment to advancing its social infrastructure.
A momentous event occurred in 1991 when Kuwaiti soldiers proudly hoisted the national flag near the Gulf coast in the capital. This act symbolized the liberation of Kuwait from the oppressive Iraqi occupation, a pivotal moment in the nation's history.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health in 2020 implemented a signature request for individuals leaving the country as part of Kuwait's efforts to curb the virus's spread. Concurrently, the Ministry of Interior suspended the use of civil ID for Kuwaitis and Gulf nationals traveling to and from Kuwait, enhancing travel safety protocols.
Additionally, the Civil Service Commission took preventive measures by suspending the attendance fingerprint system in governmental bodies starting March 1, 2020. This initiative aimed to minimize physical contact and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission within government offices.
