Kuwait City: Today marks a significant reflection on the historical milestones that have shaped Kuwait over the years. These milestones highlight the country's leadership, infrastructural advancements, and contributions to regional development.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the history of Kuwait witnessed pivotal moments beginning in 1921 with the passing of its ninth ruler, Sheikh Salem Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, at the age of 57. His leadership from February 1917 brought security and safety to the nation, coupled with a reduction in custom tariffs that spurred trade growth. In 1961, another landmark decision was made by Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, who exempted the government from paying judiciary fees.
The progression continued in 1983 with the establishment of Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiya, an institution that amassed over 20,000 relics, further enriching Kuwait's cultural heritage. Three years later, in 1986, Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated the new National Assembly building on Arabian Gulf Street, a project that cost KD 25.8 million, signaling a commitment to legislative development.
Further infrastructural and recreational advancements were made in 1987 with the inauguration of Khairan tourist park, enhancing tourism south of Kuwait City.
