According to Kuwait News Agency, in 1959, Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed decrees into law concerning Kuwaiti citizenship, passports, and foreign residency regulations, setting the foundation for modern governance. Four years later, in 1963, he established the Central Statistical Department following the enactment of a law on statistics and census, enhancing data management capabilities in Kuwait.
The State of Kuwait was elected as a member of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization’s (UNIDO) general congress in 1997, reflecting its involvement in global industrial development initiatives. In 2000, security forces discovered significant amounts of explosives and weaponry in Al-Egaila, showcasing ongoing security challenges.

In 2019, Brigadier Khaled Al-Shu’la of the Kuwaiti Army received the US military’s Order of Saint Barbara medal, distinguishing him as the first military officer in the Middle East to receive this honor.
