Kuwait’s Defeat to Qatar 3-0 in Gulf Cup U-23 Football Tournament

Doha: The Kuwait under-23 national football team lost to the Qatar national team with a score of 3-0 in the Gulf Cup U-23 Championship held in Doha. The first half ended with Qatar leading by three goals to none, with Mustafa Asser scoring the first goal in the 3rd minute, Mohammed Siraj adding the second in the 37th minute, and Ahmed Riyad scoring in the 46th minute. In the second half, the score remained unchanged, ending in favor of the Qatari team, who earned the three points.

According to Kuwait News Agency, in the second match, the Saudi team achieved a 5-0 victory over its Bahraini counterpart, securing all three points. The tournament features eight teams divided into two groups. Group A includes Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, while Group B includes Iraq, the UAE, Oman, and Yemen.

The first and second place finishers from each group qualify for the semifinals, where the winner of Group A faces the runner-up of Group B, and the winner of Group B faces the runner-up of Group A. The two winners advance to the final match, which will be held at Stadium 974.

The Gulf Cup U-23 Championship kicked off yesterday, Thursday, in Qatar, and will run until the 16th of this month. The opening matches saw Yemen defeat Iraq 2-1, and the UAE beat Oman 2-0.
