Kuwait city: The Cancer Aware Nation (CAN) launched the first activities of the 2025 Summer Haido - CAN Olympics in cooperation with the Public Authority for Sports, under the slogan "Sports is Prevention." The Olympics, set to last a month and a half, will feature a series of tournaments, competitions, and sporting activities targeting different age groups, with participation from 16 teams and over 120 players.
According to Kuwait News Agency, CAN's Chairman, Dr. Khaled Al-Saleh, highlighted the role of sports in enhancing human immunity and stated that regular exercise can reduce the risk of many cancer types. The event aims to serve as both a sports and health platform for youth and the broader community.
Director of Haido Academy, Abdullah Khaled, expressed hope that the Olympics would effectively connect physical activity with the prevention of chronic diseases like cancer. The events are being organized through a strategic partnership between CAN and Haido Academy, along with support from the Public Authority for Sports.
The program will feature a variety of sports, including football, volleyball, bowling, an athletics challenge, a tug-of-war competition, and an American penalty shootout. Additionally, the Olympics will host awareness and health workshops, as well as community initiatives. The padel tournament was the inaugural event, featuring participation from several sports teams.
