Kuwait City: Kuwait's Cabinet issued a decree Tuesday establishing a grievance committee for the withdrawal and revocation of Kuwaiti citizenship. The Committee is responsible for receiving and considering grievances submitted by those whose Kuwaiti citizenship certificate has been withdrawn or revoked, and preparing the necessary recommendations thereon, and submitting proposals within the framework of the applicable laws, regulations and decisions.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Committee shall hold its meetings at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, and may hold its meetings in any other place by decision of its Chairman. The Committee shall meet upon the invitation of its Chairman, and whenever necessary. The Committee's meeting shall be valid if attended by an absolute majority of its members, including the Chairman or his Deputy. The Committee's deliberations shall be confidential, and an absolute majority of the members present shall issue its decisions.
At its first meeting, the Committee shall establish its working system and determine the period for the topics within its jurisdiction. The Committee has the right to contact any party to obtain the data necessary to carry out its work, and the parties must cooperate.
The Committee's term of office shall be one year, starting from the date of its first meeting. This term may be extended for similar periods by a decision of the cabinet whenever necessary. All concerned parties shall implement this decree, which shall be effective from the date of its issuance and published in the Official Gazette.
