Kuwait city: Kuwait's Ambassador to Belgium and Head of its Missions to the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Nawaf Al-Enezi, affirmed the importance of Kuwait hosting the seventh meeting of the Political Advisory Group of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) and NATO at the Alliance's Regional Center during the period of 8-9 December 2025 in Kuwait.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Ambassador Al-Enezi stated that Deputy Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and NATO Secretary-General's Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood, Javier Colomina, will participate in the opening session of the seventh meeting of the Political Advisory Group.
The session will feature representatives from NATO member states and ICI countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait. Additionally, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the European Union (EU), and experts from various think tanks will take part in the discussions.
Round-table discussions during the meeting will focus on addressing challenges faced by partner countries and allies across different fields. The discussions aim to enhance the partnership through practical cooperation and capacity-building in areas such as maritime security, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and combating terrorism and extremism, along with countering the proliferation of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons.
Kuwait has previously hosted the second and fourth sessions of the meetings of the Political Advisory Group of the ICI and NATO in 2015 and 2018. The country has hosted NATO's Regional Centre since 2017 and joined the ICI in 2004.
