Port Sudan: A relief plane belonging to the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) arrived at Port Sudan Airport carrying 40 tons of food supplies and tents to support and provide relief to displaced people. Kuwait's Ambassador to Sudan Dr. Fahad Al-Thafeeri highlighted the significance of this mission as an essential step in aiding the people of Darfur.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Ambassador Al-Thafeeri emphasized that the KRCS is the first Arab society to extend aid to Darfur, demonstrating Kuwait's commitment to humanitarian efforts. The recent relief flight marks the continuation of an extensive operation, involving air and sea bridges established since the conflict began in April 2023. This operation is in line with directives from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, reflecting the solidarity of the Kuwaiti people with those in Sudan.
Ambassador Al-Thafeeri affirmed Kuwait's ongoing support for Sudan until the resolution of the conflict, highlighting that this plane is part of a larger effort, which includes a total of 35 relief planes and three cargo ships delivering thousands of tons of essential supplies. The ambassador expressed gratitude for the cooperation with Sudanese counterparts and expressed hope that the aid provided would help alleviate the suffering of those affected and aid in Sudan's recovery.
The arrival of the plane was attended by Ambassador Al-Thafeeri, the Secretary-General of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society Aida Adam, and other officials, marking a significant moment in the collaborative humanitarian efforts at Port Sudan Airport.
