Kuwait’s 2nd National Robotics Championships Begins at Kuwait University

Kuwait City: The second edition of Kuwait's National Robotics Championships has commenced at Kuwait University (KU), with participation from over 800 students representing public and private schools. The event serves as a qualifying platform for international competitions.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Acting Dean of the College of Science Dr. Mohammad Bin Sabt stated on the sidelines of the championship that more than 170 teams are taking part in the event. The winning team will have the opportunity to represent Kuwait in the VEX global competition. Dr. Bin Sabt highlighted the various categories in which teams are competing, including VEX Robotics, SeaPerch, Aerial Drone, and an Open Innovation Challenge focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and real-world problem-solving.

Dr. Bin Sabt also revealed plans by KU's College of Science, in collaboration with the College of Life Sciences, to launch AI and cybersecurity programs in the upcoming September. This initiative aims to further enhance the technological education landscape in Kuwait.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth, Nasser Al-Sheikh, stressed the event's role in fostering innovation and supporting technological advancement among Kuwaiti youth. Al-Sheikh acknowledged the enthusiasm demonstrated by young participants and expressed hopes for their success in representing Kuwait on international platforms.

The championship also included an exhibition where government and private schools, ministries, and institutions, including Kuwait News Agency, showcased practical applications and innovative projects in AI, highlighting the country's commitment to technological progress.
