Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti security services have successfully dismantled a criminal gang involved in producing and promoting Methanol, a toxic chemical compound known to be responsible for several recent deaths among individuals of Asian nationality.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Ministry of Interior released a statement detailing that a collaborative effort by the Ministry's Criminal Investigation Department, the General Administration for Drug Control, the General Department of Criminal Evidence, and the Ministry of Health led to the arrest of an individual in the Al-Salmiya area of Hawalli Governorate. This operation also resulted in the seizure of a quantity of the toxic chemical. The arrested individual confessed to both processing and marketing the material, which subsequently led to the arrest of three additional individuals of Asian nationality, including a main accomplice.
The crackdown on the unlawful production of methanol has so far resulted in 67 arrests and the seizure of six operational facilities engaged in this activity. Additionally, four more facilities that were under construction have been identified. The Ministry has issued a warning regarding the severe health hazards posed by this chemical compound, emphasizing its potential to cause direct death.
