Kuwaiti parliament upcoming sessions discuss conflict of interest law, gov’t program

The National Assembly will be holding sessions next Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss a variety of issues including the conflict of interest draft law as well as proposals and draft laws connected with the government program.

The parliament would look into matters such as lifting parliamentary immunity of MP Majed Al-Mutairi.

The conflict of interest law would be discussed during the upcoming sessions.

Based on the law 13, 2018 passed by parliament, “It is prohibited for a person subjected to obtain either material or moral benefit or any person mentioned in the previous clause to carry out any activity which is directly linked to his work in the ministry by himself or through the participation of others, or own a share in any activity or financial transaction with other party in which he is the main cause.” The government program for the 17th legislative term (2022-26) will be tabled during the upcoming sessions according to article 98 of the constitution.

The forming of several committees would be discussed by parliament as well as a request by several MPs to establish a committee looking into the Caracal Eurocopter and Eurofighter deals.
