Kuwaiti Municipal Affairs Minister and Al-Asimah Governor Inaugurate Shuwaikh Beach Project

Kuwait city: Kuwaiti Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdulatif Al-Mishari, along with Capital, Al-Asimah, Governor Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, inaugurated the new Shuwaikh beach project. The project spans 1.7 kilometers and is positioned as a modern waterfront and recreational destination in the heart of the capital.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Mishari stated that the project represents the beginning of efforts to develop several beaches and important sites across the country. The aim is to enhance public spaces, making them more vibrant and service-oriented. Al-Mishari expressed gratitude to the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) for its support, the Capital Governor for overseeing the project, and municipal leaders for their contributions.

Governor Sheikh Abdullah Salem emphasized the project’s significance in sustainable development, aligning with the state’s vision to enhance the capital’s modern image and offer integrated recreational facilities. He acknowledged the efforts of government agencies, Kuwait Municipality, and the Ministry of Public Works, and praised the private sector’s role, especially NBK’s involvement.

NBK Group Vice-Chairman and CEO Issam Al-Sager highlighted the project as a successful public-private partnership. He noted NBK’s longstanding commitment to community development and environmental protection, beyond its banking activities. Al-Sager described the Shuwaikh beach project as a celebration of Kuwait’s coasts and heritage, providing a modern, eco-friendly destination for sports and nature enjoyment.

The collaborative effort between Kuwait Municipality and NBK includes green spaces, sports facilities, and paths for walking, jogging, and cycling. It also features recreational and children’s play areas, along with the restoration of basic facilities such as the mosque and restrooms.
