Kuwaiti Government Extends Congratulations to Amir on Second Anniversary of Ascension

Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti government convened on Wednesday to address several topics, notably marking the second anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's assumption of his post. The meeting, led by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, included heartfelt congratulations to His Highness the Amir, accompanied by wishes for his lasting health and welfare.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereeda Al-Mousherji shared the cabinet's sincere wishes with His Highness the Amir and the people of Kuwait on this occasion. The cabinet expressed hopes for continued progress and development in Kuwait alongside wishes for His Highness's health and welfare.

In other decisions, the cabinet announced the suspension of work at government bodies and entities on New Year's Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026, with operations resuming on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Special institutions will maintain operations based on their capacities.

The cabinet also acknowledged Bahrain's celebrations of its 54th National Day and the 26th anniversary of King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al-Khalifa's ascension, extending warm congratulations to Bahrain for further progress and development. Similar congratulations were extended to Qatar in anticipation of its Founding Day on December 18, commemorating the unification and establishment of the modern state by Sheikh Jassem bin Mohammad Al-Thani.

Furthermore, Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah briefed the meeting on the visit by Saudi State Minister Prince Turki bin Mohammad bin Fahad bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. The Saudi official conveyed greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, wishing His Highness the Amir good health and welfare.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya reported on his meeting with Commonwealth Secretary General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, discussing enhanced cooperation and development projects. The cabinet also reviewed the ministerial committee's economic affairs meeting minutes and the semi-annual report of the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects.

The cabinet deliberated on the public services committee's report from the Ministry of Public Works regarding environmental preservation in Kuwait Bay. Several topics were referred to specialized ministerial committees for further consideration.
