Kuwait city: During its weekly cabinet meeting, the Kuwaiti cabinet has instructed the Ministry of Public Works to expedite the implementation of the Gulf Railway and fast transport projects.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Youssef Saud Al-Sabah and took place at Bayan Palace. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sherida Abdullah Saad Al-Maousharji provided details on the cabinet's directives.
The cabinet members reviewed messages addressed to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from leaders of friendly countries, focusing on enhancing cooperation with Kuwait. His Highness the Amir emphasized the need for strategic cooperation among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries for collective security and regional stability. Kuwait reiterated its commitment to agreements with Iraq regarding border demarcation, in compliance with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya briefed the cabinet on the final communique of the 46th GCC Supreme Council session, where leaders praised Kuwait's achievements under the presidency of the 45th session. The GCC leaders expressed support for Kuwait's bid to host the third GCC-China Summit in 2030, hoping it would strengthen bilateral relations.
Additionally, the cabinet highlighted the successful outcomes of the first GCC conference on judicial and legislative cooperation and congratulated Kuwait on its designation as the capital of Arab culture and media in 2025. Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Saud Al-Omar reported on the Arab League's recognition of Kuwait's e-service app Sahel, which received an award for communication excellence in Cairo.
Furthermore, Minister of Justice Naser Youssef Al-Sumait discussed Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority's (Nazaha) recognition with an award for the best anti-graft strategy. The cabinet also reviewed reports on the GCC Railway project, with the first stage nearing completion. The Ministry of Public Works has been tasked with accelerating the implementation in line with cabinet decree No. 1279 for 2025 and reporting quarterly on progress.
The cabinet examined the cultural course project in Kuwait City, which aims to enhance the country's cultural and touristic experience. This project links 66 cultural landmarks and integrates local architectural designs with cultural heritage. The Ministry of Information has been directed to collaborate with relevant departments to finalize and implement this project, with quarterly progress reports required.
Finally, the cabinet approved the higher committee's minutes on Kuwait nationality, including cases of residency withdrawal under act 15 for 1959 and its amendments.
