Kuwaiti Athletes Secure Medals at West Asia Athletics Championships

Doha: Three Kuwaiti athletes claimed medals on Monday, winning a silver and two bronze at the West Asian Athletics Association Championships, which commenced in Doha and will continue until April 10.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Kazma club's Hussein Al-Tamimi earned a bronze medal in the shot put event, while Salwa Al-Sabah SC's Salsabeel Al-Sayyar captured the silver in the javelin throw. Additionally, Haya Al-Rifaie secured a bronze in the 10,000-meter race.

Secretary of the Kuwaiti Athletics Federation Hussein Dashti spoke to KUNA, expressing hope for achieving advanced positions and setting records. He highlighted Kuwait's participation in the tournament with four clubs, emphasizing the importance of regional championships in fostering sports collaboration and enabling athletes to share expertise for future competitions.

The championships began in Doha with approximately 400 athletes from 11 countries, including Kuwait, participating in the event.
