Kuwaiti Athletes Excel at Special Olympics World Winter Games, Secure Multiple Medals


Turin: Two athletes from the Kuwaiti Special Olympics delegation achieved notable success on Saturday, securing one silver and one bronze medal, thus bringing Kuwait’s total medal count to four at the conclusion of the World Winter Games (Turin 2025).



According to Kuwait News Agency, Abdullah Al-Ali clinched the silver medal, while Hajar Al-Rashidi earned the bronze in the 100-meter ice skating final. This marked a significant achievement for Kuwait in their first participation in the World Winter Games.



National Director of the Special Olympics Kuwait, Rehab Bouresli, expressed her happiness and pride in the accomplishments of the Kuwaiti Special Olympics champions in a statement to KUNA. She dedicated the achievement to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince, and the Kuwaiti people.



Bouresli highlighted the players’ sense of responsibility and their commendable representation of Kuwaiti sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She praised the efforts of the participating delegation and the support from the athletes’ parents, which contributed to these results.



Furthermore, she thanked the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission for their assistance in overcoming challenges, emphasizing the ongoing commitment of Special Olympics Kuwait to empower children with intellectual disabilities, enhance their capabilities, and showcase their talents.
