Kuwait City: Kuwait Ambassador to India Meshal Mustafa Al-Shamali met on Thursday with Secretary-General of the International Solar Alliance Ajay Mathur in New Delhi to discuss cooperation in developing sustainable energy solutions. Ambassador Al-Shamali emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration with Kuwait to advance solar energy technologies for a low-carbon future.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the ambassador highlighted Kuwait's commitment to this initiative by signing a Memorandum of Understanding to join the International Solar Alliance during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kuwait last December. This move signifies a significant step towards fostering sustainable low-carbon energy solutions through international cooperation.
Ambassador Al-Shamali discussed with Secretary-General Mathur the potential benefits of utilizing the Alliance's expertise to train Kuwaiti technical teams and facilitate knowledge exchange in the solar energy sector. The Secretary-General welcomed Kuwait's signing of the MoU, considering it a historic event due to Kuwait's notable position in the global energy sector. Mathur expressed optimism for robust bilateral cooperation between Kuwait and the International Solar Alliance.
The International Solar Alliance, launched by India and France at the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris in 2015, aims to promote solar energy as a key solution to energy access and climate change. Headquartered in India, the Alliance plays a crucial role in fostering global collaboration in solar energy, enhancing energy security, and supporting the transition to cleaner energy systems.
