Kuwait City: Kuwaiti Al-Qadsia achieved an important 1-0 victory over Bahraini Al-Riffa on Wednesday, advancing to second place in Group B of the Gulf Champions League. The match’s only goal came from Al-Qadsia’s Ibrahim Khafi, who scored with a header in the 28th minute, sending the ball into the Bahraini net.
According to Kuwait News Agency, despite playing with a man down after Al-Qadsia’s player, Athbi Shehab, was sent off in the 54th minute, the Kuwaiti team displayed dedication and resilience, preventing Al-Riffa from equalizing. With the win, Al-Qadsia now has five points in second place, while Al-Riffa dropped to third with four points.
The group is led by Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittifaq with nine points, and Qatar’s Al-Arabi is at the bottom with just one point. Two more rounds remain in the group stage, where the top two teams will advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.
