Kuwait Weightlifters Achieve 54-Medal Haul at Qatar Championships

Kuwait city: Kuwait's weightlifting team concluded their participation in the 10th Qatar Cup, the Arab Championship, and the West Asian Championship with a remarkable 54-medal tally, after securing nine additional medals on the final day of the competitions.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Abdulhamid Akbar played a significant role in boosting Kuwait's medal count by winning three gold and three bronze medals in the youth and junior 94 kg categories of the Asian championship. He also added three silver medals at the same weight and age tiers in the Arab championship, as confirmed by Talal Al-Jassar, Chairman of the Kuwait Weightlifting Federation (KWF).

Kuwait's overall medal count from the championships now stands at nine golds, six silvers, and 39 bronzes. Al-Jassar commended the team's performance and assured continued support from KWF to help Kuwaiti athletes achieve more success in future events. He expressed gratitude towards Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, along with Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Sport Bashar Abdullah, for their backing and dedication to the weightlifting sport.
