Qatar: The Qatar International Open Taekwondo Championship concluded on Saturday at the Lusail Arena, witnessing the participation of 1,440 male and female athletes from 40 countries, divided into four categories. According to Kuwait News Agency, the Kuwait Taekwondo team secured an impressive medal tally. In the junior female category, Teibah Al-Maghrabi claimed a silver medal in the 27 kg division, while Mesk Al-Salem won a silver in the 59 kg category. Ghola Al-Assaf and Al-Hawra Habib each took home bronze medals in the 59 kg and 25 kg categories, respectively. In the junior males' category, Walid Al-Mutairi achieved a gold medal in the 49 kg division, with Mosaab Al-Masoud, Noah Abdullatif, and Rakan Al-Ajmi each winning bronze medals in the 49 kg, 41 kg, and 53 kg categories, respectively. The tournament's opening day saw Kuwaiti female players Shahd Al-Ajmi and Houraa Al-Damkhi securing bronze medals in the 42 kg and 49 kg divisions. In addition to the athletes' success, Kuwaiti taekwondo referee Al i Shahab was honored with the Best Referee award. Shahab expressed his happiness to KUNA for being recognized, emphasizing that this accolade elevates Kuwait's standing on international platforms. He extended his gratitude to the State of Qatar for its warm welcome, excellent organization, and generous hospitality, as well as to everyone who supported him.
