Kuwait Seeks to Strengthen Economic Ties with Uzbekistan: Minister Highlights Bilateral Commitment

Kuwait city: Acting Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem announced that Kuwait is eager to enhance its cooperation with Uzbekistan across various sectors to achieve economic growth. Speaking at the Second Session of the Kuwait-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem emphasized that the session aims to build on recent achievements in bilateral cooperation. According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem highlighted that the bilateral relations have gained momentum due to joint diplomatic efforts and high-level interactions, reflecting a commitment from both nations to deepen their mutually beneficial cooperation. He recalled that the visit by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kuwait in February opened new avenues for economic partnership and strategic dialogue. Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem praised the joint commission's work, stating it offers an effective institutional mechani sm for developing initiatives to promote cooperation in various areas. He noted that intergovernmental cooperation lays the foundation for a stable long-term strategic partnership, while the private sector plays a vital role in driving economic growth through implementation of deals and provision of investments and jobs. He commended Uzbekistan's economic reforms, noting they have modernized the investment atmosphere. Meanwhile, Kuwait, as part of its efforts to diversify its economy, has upgraded its financial sector through partnerships with global corporations and major investors, including those from Uzbekistan. Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem also underscored the significance of the Kuwait-Uzbek business forum in bringing together major investors from both countries to explore opportunities for joint ventures involving the private sector. On the other hand, Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov mentioned that the recently-held tourism promotion expo in Kuwait has significantly boosted coop eration between the two nations. He noted that more than 30 Uzbek companies held meetings with their Kuwaiti counterparts to explore partnership prospects. Kudratov highlighted that Uzbekistan has sent a preliminary shipment of goods to Kuwait, which took 15 days. Plans are underway for more shipments via Iran's northern ports, potentially reducing the shipping time to seven or eight days.
