Kuwait City: Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN and Other International Organizations, Ambassador Nasser Al-Hayen, has expressed the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States' regret over the ongoing conflict in Sudan, highlighting the impact on civilians, women, and children.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Hayen, who serves as the chairman of the council of GCC member states' ambassadors, emphasized the need for adherence to international humanitarian law and human rights laws to safeguard civilians. He reiterated the call for an immediate ceasefire and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2736.
The GCC States have voiced their concerns regarding the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by starvation in Sudan. They have called for global cooperation to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people. Al-Hayen stressed the importance of removing obstacles to ensure compliance with the ceasefire agreement and the humanitarian truce, as outlined in the Jeddah Declaration, to facilitate urgent aid delivery.
Furthermore, the ambassador reaffirmed the GCC States' commitment to ending the crisis, preserving Sudan's sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity. He emphasized the necessity of prioritizing dialogue, unity among the Sudanese people, and a return to a political process that establishes a civil authority to alleviate the plight of the Sudanese population.
