Kuwait reports eight COVID-19 deaths, 1,417 infections

Kuwait’s Ministry of Health on Thursday reported eight new COVID-19 deaths, and 1,417 infections in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad told KUNA that the total fatalities climbed to 1,554, and the caseload to 272,562 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Al-Sanad added that 1,394 have recovered today bringing the total recoveries to 255,817, which makes the recovery rate 93.86 percent out of total conducted tests.

A sum of 222 patients are being treated at the intensive care units, making the number of patients receiving health care 15,191, he added.

Moreover, over the past 24 hours, 9,423 tests were conducted, with infection rate of 15.04 percent, increasing the total conducted tests to 2,316,838, he said.

Al-Sanad renewed his call on the public to maintain social distancing, and to abide with all health regulations that would help in stopping the virus spread.
