Kuwait City: Kuwait on Sunday reaffirmed keenness to fulfill its international obligations and promote human rights. This announcement was made during the first meeting of the Permanent National Committee on International Human Rights Law in 2025, which was headed by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Affairs, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Al-Sabah.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the committee reviewed its achievements for 2024, which underscored Kuwait’s dedication to its international pledges. This included discussions on the sixth periodic national report on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) among other reports.

The committee also outlined its work program for the year 2025, focusing on preparations to submit and discuss its report on the fourth universal periodic review. This report will highlight Kuwait’s efforts to promote and protect human rights in alignment with the nation’s 2035 development vision.

In acknowledgment of the importance of collaboration between the government and civil society, the committee held a meeting with representatives of human rights agencies. This partnership is crucial for implementing international pledges, particularly those related to protecting the rights of women, children, and persons with disabilities.
