Kuwait city: Public Prosecutor Judge Saad Alsafran has announced the formation of a specialized team to combat human and migrants' trafficking, as part of implementing the national strategy to address these crimes. The decision, made on Sunday, aims to enhance the criminal justice system, focusing on victim protection and improving investigation and judicial processes for these complex crimes.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the team comprises several notable members, including Musaed Al-Shemmari, Deputy Director of Al-Assima Prosecution, and others from various prosecution departments, such as Fahad Almutairi, Barrak Kankouni, Mubarak Boudai, Abdullah Almutairi, and Abdullah Alshanfa. These members are expected to bring diverse expertise to the team, covering areas from international cooperation to complaints examination and public funds prosecution.

The Public Prosecution's statement highlighted Law 91/2013, which outlines key responsibilities for the team. These include activating the national referral mechanism within the Public Prosecution, standardizing procedures for identifying and protecting victims, and refining investigation methods and evidence collection. The team will also develop technical guidelines for prosecution members and judicial authorities dealing with crime indexes.

Additional duties involve creating standardized judicial case samples related to human trafficking victims, reviewing ongoing and new cases, identifying practical challenges, and making necessary recommendations. An integrated database for human and immigrants' trafficking will be established, with regular analytical reports submitted to the Public Prosecutor.

The team will also engage in international coordination to address concerns raised in reports by UN and regional agencies. This includes preparing responses and providing required information, as well as proposing and conducting specialized training programs for prosecution members and judicial authorities in collaboration with the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies.

The Public Prosecution emphasized that the formation of this specialized team reflects its commitment to reinforcing the rule of law, advancing victim protection measures, and aligning national actions with international obligations in response to the evolving nature of crime.
