Kuwait city: Kuwait is committed to formulating and implementing a comprehensive national strategy to integrate individuals with disabilities into its developmental plans, reflecting the country’s dedication to human rights principles, stated Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Al-Huwaila delivered a speech during an event at the Second World Summit for Social Development, emphasizing that the strategy aims to achieve integration through care, empowerment, legal support, and increasing societal awareness. She noted that despite progress in policies and awareness, the Middle East and North Africa region still faces challenges, such as inadequate application of national laws, limited access to services, and a lack of accurate data, which impede effective planning.
Dr. Al-Huwaila highlighted the importance of implementing the plan, adding that accelerating the United Nations’ strategy for integration requires genuine political will, empowering government personnel, and enhancing partnerships.
