Kuwait city: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has called on the relevant ministers to expedite the implementation of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoU) between Kuwait and China. This directive was issued during a meeting chaired by His Highness to review the progress of these agreements.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the 17th meeting of the committee focused on the latest updates concerning projects outlined in the agreements between the two nations. These projects include cooperation on the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, the electrical power system, renewable energy development, a low-carbon green system for waste recycling, housing development, environmental infrastructure for wastewater treatment plants, and the establishment of free and economic zones.
His Highness the Prime Minister instructed the committee to expedite the procedures and steps required by the ministries and authorities in collaboration with Chinese government agencies. He commended the committee for its proposals to address challenges and ensure coherence in minimizing procedures among state authorities, aiming to implement development and modernization projects within the specified timeframe.
Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and member and rapporteur of the Ministerial Committee, provided a detailed account of ongoing discussions between the Kuwaiti and Chinese governments. These discussions pertain to the progress of implementing the agreements and MoUs following His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's visit to China. The ambassador also highlighted efforts in coordination, consultation, and cooperation with the Chinese government to combat desertification through national projects focused on ecosystem rehabilitation and afforestation programs.
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Head of the Prime Minister's Diwan Abdulaziz Al-Dakheel, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Mishari, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Noura Al-Fassam, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Salah Al-Majed, and Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat.
