Kuwait city: Under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Nayef Light Ammunition Factory was inaugurated on Monday, marking a significant step in strengthening Kuwait's national defense capabilities. The ceremony saw attendance from key figures including the Minister of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, and senior commanders of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces.
According to Kuwait News Agency, His Highness the Prime Minister activated the factory's operational button, officially launching its light ammunition production line. He also received a comprehensive briefing on the project, which signifies Kuwait's first foray into ammunition manufacturing and is the first facility of its kind in the country. The Prime Minister inspected the production processes, which adhere to NATO's quality and safety standards for light ammunition manufacturing.
In a press statement, the Prime Minister expressed pride in this new industrial development, describing it as a strategic enhancement of Kuwait's defense capabilities and a testament to the country's commitment to security and military advancement. He commended the national workforce involved in the project's completion and expressed confidence in their ability to manage the facility effectively, highlighting its importance for the nation's security under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Major General Eng. Salah Saud Al-Azmi, Assistant Chief of the General Staff for Supply and Logistics, remarked that the project aligns with the political leadership's vision and is pivotal in improving the performance of the Armed Forces. He emphasized its role in fulfilling the needs of security agencies and in developing a capable workforce for future projects.
Chinese Consul to Kuwait Liu Xiang highlighted the factory's role in strengthening the strategic partnership between Kuwait and China. Ji Wei, CEO of China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO), added that the factory is a testament to establishing an independent and sustainable national defense industry, promising ongoing cooperation with Kuwaiti partners to produce high-quality ammunition and train national cadres.
