Kuwait city: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah received Dr. Jihad Azour, the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), along with his delegation at Bayan Palace. The visit focused on enhancing collaborative efforts between Kuwait and the IMF.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting was attended by key ministers including Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem, the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and Minister of Finance, who is also the Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment. The dialogue centered on Kuwait Vision 2035, specifically targeting strategies to increase non-oil revenues, reform subsidy systems, ensure fiscal sustainability, and implement selective taxation.
His Highness underscored the significance of ongoing consultations with the IMF to monitor progress in these areas, reiterating the need to support Kuwait's economic development objectives. The session also included Abdulaziz Al-Dakhil, the Head of the Prime Minister's Diwan, along with officials from the Ministry of Finance's various departments, who contributed to discussions on international economic cooperation, financial planning and follow-up, and public debt management.
