Kuwait PM Attends Opening of New Wool Factory

Kuwait City: The opening ceremony for the Soof Wool Processing Center was held at the Al-Mawashi Livestock Transport and Trading Company's headquarters in Al-Rai, with the event being graced by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

According to Kuwait News Agency, His Highness Sheikh Ahmad was provided with insights into the yarn knitting process and the utilization of natural woolen threads, along with sustainable water and energy practices that are environmentally friendly. The ceremony witnessed the participation of several key ministers, including Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Meshari.

The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) reported that the Al-Sadu Society was instrumental in presenting the idea for the center. The foundation funded a project that integrated local sheep into wool production, marking a collaborative effort. Al-Sadu Society highlighted that the center plays a role in sustainable development by promoting the use of natural resources for production while preserving cultural heritage.

Al-Mawashi contributed by providing the necessary space and livestock for the center. This initiative is expected to support the local economy, encourage youth participation in the sector, and enhance Kuwait's position through innovation.
