Kuwait MoH Launches Blood Donation Campaign for National Celebrations

Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health's Blood Transfusion Services has initiated its annual blood donation campaign, marking Kuwait's national celebrations. The campaign, which launched on Thursday under the patronage of Health Minister Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi, will continue until February 28.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Reem Al-Radhwan, Director of the Blood Transfusion Services Department, stated that the campaign aims to promote the spirit of selfless giving, reflecting national unity and social solidarity among all those residing in Kuwait. She emphasized that donating blood is not only a humanitarian duty but also a national responsibility, highlighting the importance of appreciating those who contribute.

The campaign will include donation drives across both governmental and private sectors. These efforts play a crucial role in ensuring a steady and adequate supply of blood and its derivatives for the healthcare system.

This year's campaign began at the Amiri Diwan and Kuwait National Petroleum Company. Additional drives are scheduled to involve the Indian and Pakistani communities, as well as several embassies. In 2024, the total number of blood bags collected exceeded 95,000, with donation campaigns contributing approximately 22 percent of the overall blood supply.
