According to Kuwait News Agency, in 1981, Abdullah Al-Nouri, a respected scholar and former director of Kuwait Radio, passed away at 76. A decade later, in 1991, Operation Desert Storm commenced its first airstrikes to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi occupation, with an international coalition deploying 580,000 soldiers against 540,000 Iraqi troops.
