Copenhagen: Kuwait Pharmaceutical Association (KUPFA) has officially signed the Copenhagen Declaration on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a significant move that underscores the need for international cooperation and financial backing to tackle this global health threat. The signing event coincided with the 83rd International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, held in Copenhagen.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Bader Al-Khereinj, a member of the KUPFA Board, stated that the signing was part of the congress activities, which concluded recently. The FIP World Congress 2025, themed "Pharmacy Forward: Performance, Collaboration, and Health Transformation," focused on the evolving role of the pharmacy profession in addressing challenges posed by AMR, impacting human, animal, and plant health.
The congress also involved voting on professional policies, where Dr. Nadia Al-Mazrou'ie from the UAE was elected as the vice president of the FIP Supreme Council. Her election received substantial support from Arab and Gulf associations. The new policies emphasized the integration of AI in pharmacy practices and the enhancement of pharmacy's role in combating non-communicable diseases and promoting public health.
The KUPFA delegation, led by the Association's treasurer Wala Marafi and prominent pharmacists, visited various social pharmacies in Copenhagen. These visits aimed at gaining insights into Danish pharmacy practices and expanding knowledge on international pharmaceutical collaboration.
