Kuwait city: First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah emphasized that the security and stability of GCC countries constitute an integrated system based on shared destiny and mutual objectives. This statement was delivered during his speech at the opening of the 42nd GCC Interior Ministers' meeting held at Bayan Palace, attended by interior ministers and delegation leaders from GCC countries.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yusuf highlighted that the meeting takes place amid significant regional and global changes. He underscored the importance of enhancing security cooperation and integration among GCC countries as a strategic necessity. He noted that joint Gulf security efforts have historically served as a defense against regional threats such as terrorism, extremism, and drug trafficking, which jeopardize the present and future of Gulf societies.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Yusuf emphasized the importance of sustaining collaborative Gulf efforts to combat drug-related issues through coordinated field activities, expertise sharing, and unified awareness campaigns. He also addressed the need to tackle organized crime, cybercrime, and money laundering through ongoing readiness and cooperation. He indicated that current security challenges necessitate unified strategies and procedures, involving enhanced field mechanisms, information sharing, and the deployment of modern technologies and AI to strengthen security capabilities.
The Kuwait Interior Minister highlighted that security now involves not only border protection and crime prevention but also safeguarding individuals' awareness, stability, and social well-being. He asserted that cultivating a conscious and responsible Gulf citizen is crucial for sustainable security, advocating for a sense of belonging, loyalty, and shared responsibility between citizens and security forces.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Yusuf reiterated Kuwait's unwavering commitment to supporting all initiatives that bolster the Gulf security system, stressing that integration is the key to achieving comprehensive security desired by GCC peoples and leaders. He commended the efforts of GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Budaiwi and the Assistant Secretary-General for Security Affairs for their dedication in implementing the meeting's decisions and recommendations.
