Kuwait Hosts Regional Workshop on Nuclear Safeguard Implementation

Kuwait city: The Ministry of Health, represented by the Radiation Protection Department, hosted a regional workshop focused on the implementation of Small Quantities Protocol safeguards. The event, held in coordination with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the International Nuclear Security Education Network (INSEP), aims to support the safe and peaceful use of nuclear technologies.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the four-day workshop seeks to enhance practical understanding, build technical capacity, and facilitate the exchange of best practices regarding nuclear safeguards. This aligns with international standards for nuclear and radiological security.

Dr. Nasser Al-Juwaisri, Director of the Radiation Protection Department, highlighted that hosting the workshop demonstrates Kuwait's commitment to strengthening international cooperation in nuclear safety. The event attracted international experts, trainees, and representatives from nine countries, emphasizing its role as a significant platform for regional cooperation and knowledge exchange in nuclear safeguards and security.
