Kuwait city: The fifth Gulf Cybersecurity Conference and Exhibition commenced in Kuwait, featuring participation from representatives of all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and the GCC Secretariat General. The event highlights the region's focus on enhancing cybersecurity measures.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Engineer Abeer Al-Awadhi, Head of the Kuwait National Cybersecurity Center, delivered opening remarks conveying greetings from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah. Al-Awadhi emphasized that cybersecurity has become a necessity as vital services and daily life increasingly rely on the digital domain.
Al-Awadhi pointed out that protecting the digital space is a strategic duty and shared responsibility, requiring coordinated efforts and constant vigilance to tackle evolving threats. She mentioned that the conference's activities extend beyond simulations, acting as real tests of response speed, preparedness, and the ability to shield societies and national systems from advanced cyberattacks.
The conference underscores the GCC states' commitment to enhancing digital resilience and safeguarding national capabilities amidst rising challenges. Al-Awadhi expressed gratitude to the GCC cybersecurity agencies and institutions for their participation and thanked the organizers and contributors for their support.
Organized by Kuwait's National Cybersecurity Center, the exercise incorporates realistic simulations to bolster GCC cybersecurity readiness, cooperation, crisis management plans, and team capabilities, thereby supporting a safe and stable digital environment.
