Kuwait city: A Kuwaiti team successfully carried out a remote prostatectomy on a patient residing in Al-Sabah medical district, said the Health Ministry on Wednesday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the procedure was performed on a patient in his 50s and involved the partial removal of his prostate using MEDBOT technology while the team was abroad. The ministry noted that the team was led by Dr. Saad Al-Dossari, who shared the details of the remote procedure with approximately 2,500 surgeons attending the World Congress of Robotic Surgery in Strasbourg, France.
The ministry also confirmed that Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi was present during the procedure. This marks the ninth surgery of its kind led by Dr. Al-Dossari, who has previously conducted eight similar procedures, with the most recent one being performed remotely from Shanghai, China, on a patient in Kuwait.
