KUWAIT CITY: Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya on Tuesday reaffirmed his country's commitment to promoting multilateral, regional, and bilateral cooperation to fight terrorist threats and transnational organized crime. The minister made the statement while addressing the final session of the High-Level International Conference on "Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms -- The Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process", held in Kuwait on November 4-5 under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. According to Kuwait News Agency, the minister added that the conferees had looked into several significant issues, including ways of addressing world border security challenges, protecting borders from new technologies, and building strong and effective national strategies and action plans to run border security. Al-Yahya underlined countries' necessary commitment to applying all UN resolutions pert inent to combatting terrorism and supporting UN facilities and measures in order to promote international counter-terror cooperation and to back the efforts of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism. The Kuwaiti foreign minister voiced much thanks and appreciation to all the delegations that attended the UN conference aiming at strengthening counter-terror cooperation and building agile border security mechanisms. The High-Level International Conference on "Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms -- The Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process", kicked off in Kuwait on Monday. More than 450 participants, including 33 ministers, from the member states, and representatives of UN agencies, 23 regional and international organizations, and 13 nongovernmental organizations, attended the Kuwait-hosted gathering.
