Kuwait city: Kuwait's Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya met with Roslyn Morauta, the visiting Chair of the Board of Directors of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM), on Monday. Waleed Al-Bahar, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), was also present during the meeting.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press statement noting that the meeting focused on the close relations between Kuwait and the GFATM. Discussions centered on current humanitarian developments in the region and efforts by the Fund to combat AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
The statement highlighted the importance of enhancing collective humanitarian action to eradicate these epidemics globally. Emphasis was placed on supporting international humanitarian initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of populations affected by these diseases.
The GFATM is a global partnership involving governments, United Nations organizations, civil society groups, and the private sector. It is committed to implementing programs developed by international experts from the World Health Organization and specialized UN agencies to combat these three diseases worldwide.
