Kuwait FM Affirms GCC’s Support for Qatar’s Security and Stability

Kuwait city: Kuwait Foreign Minister and Chairman of the current session of the Gulf Ministerial Council, Abdullah Al-Yahya, affirmed the GCC's full solidarity and unwavering position with Qatar, expressing absolute support for the measures and procedures Qatar is taking to ensure the protection of its people and the preservation of its security. This declaration was made during his opening speech at the eighth joint ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue between the GCC and the Russian Federation, held in Sochi.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Yahya emphasized that any attack against a GCC country is considered an aggression against all member states. He addressed the recent aggression against Qatar by Israeli occupation forces, highlighting the shared hope for security and stability in the region. The minister remarked that today's meeting underscores the strategic partnership between the GCC and Russia as a fundamental pillar for building a secure future and expanding cooperation.

Al-Yahya stressed that this meeting marks a significant step in enhancing previous agreements, with the joint action plan (2023-2028) serving as a practical embodiment of collective goals. He noted that the plan has led to tangible partnerships and practical programs, translating shared aspirations into reality.

The Kuwaiti minister reiterated the centrality of the Palestinian cause to regional stability, emphasizing the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state. He praised Russia's stance on achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and condemned the Israeli occupation's policies against civilians.

Al-Yahya also highlighted the positive outcomes of the Alaska Summit between the Presidents of Russia and the United States, viewing it as a step towards resolving the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. He reaffirmed the GCC's commitment to dialogue as a means to resolve conflicts and enhance regional stability.

The minister commended Russia's efforts in urging Iraq to resolve outstanding issues with Kuwait, emphasizing the importance of completing the maritime border demarcation and implementing the maritime navigation agreement in Khor Abdullah. He expressed hope for constructive results from the upcoming Arab-Russian summit scheduled for October 15, aiming to strengthen cooperation across various fields.
