Kuwait Enters Bid to Host 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV

Kuwait City: Kuwait Winter Sports Club announced on Tuesday that it has submitted a bid to host the 2026 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV. This division includes national teams from Armenia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, Singapore, and Kuwait. The announcement coincided with the club's involvement in the ongoing IIHF meetings in Sweden.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Club President Fahed Al-Ajmi stated that the IIHF will review Kuwait's bid alongside others and will reveal the host country in the near future. Al-Ajmi expressed a strong desire for Kuwait to host the championship, emphasizing its significance in elevating Kuwaiti ice hockey on the international stage and promoting the sport within the country.

Al-Ajmi further mentioned that the international meetings in Sweden were attended by the club's Development Director, Mishal Al-Ajmi, and board member Rashid Al-Failakawi. Discussions during the meetings focused on global sport development at various technical levels, particularly in Asia, by strengthening tournament structures.

The meetings led to several key decisions aimed at enhancing the game in areas like refereeing, coaching, and management through intensified training programs. Al-Ajmi commended the IIHF's efforts in advancing the sport at the national team level.
