Kuwait Enhances Digital Services with Smart Government Initiatives

Kuwait city: Kuwait is transitioning from traditional digital services to innovative "smart journeys" as part of its commitment to a citizen-centered smart government, stated Minister of State for Communication Affairs Omar Al-Omar. This announcement was made during the opening of the second Sahel Forum, an event organized by the Executive Committee of the unified government app Sahel and Sahel Business.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Omar revealed that the Sahel platform now accommodates over three million users and has facilitated more than 120 million digital transactions. The "new-born" service, part of a series of integrated digital services, marks the beginning of this transformation. This initiative is driven by leadership and Cabinet directives aimed at accelerating digital transformation and data integration.

Committee member Fajer Al-Yaseen highlighted that Sahel currently provides 483 services from 41 government entities. Among these, the new-born service has already registered over 6,000 births. Future projects include a central reporting system intended for the issuance of house and marriage documents.

Eng. Tareq Al-Darbass, an advisor to the Minister, emphasized the necessity of re-engineering procedures, data integration, and the adoption of AI to enhance user experience. He underscored the shift towards integrated digital services that prioritize the needs and lives of citizens. The forum also featured successful digital-service models from the Ministries of Interior, the Kuwait Credit Bank, and the Public Authority for Housing Welfare. This was followed by a closed session focused on discussing priorities for future digital service development and exchanging experiences and challenges.
