Kuwait Engages in SCO Media Summit in China

Zhengzhou: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit commenced in Zhengzhou City, China, with active participation from Kuwait. The event included KUNA's Acting Director General Mohammad Al-Mannai and experts from Arab and Gulf media entities, along with Kuwait's Ambassador to China, Jassem Al-Najem.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the summit attracted over 400 officials and representatives from approximately 200 media outlets and think tanks from SCO member states. The discussions focused on advancing international media cooperation and enhancing global cultural governance.

Fu Hua, President of Xinhua News Agency, addressed the summit, emphasizing the goal of strengthening the media's role in building trust, promoting cultural respect, and fostering shared development among SCO member states. He highlighted the organization's significant contributions to regional security, stability, development, and prosperity over the past 24 years. Fu Hua reiterated China's commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative and its aim to deepen cooperation with SCO members.

Former SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming noted the importance of security cooperation within the organization, which extends beyond combating transnational crimes and drug trafficking to include energy, environmental, food, and information security.

The SCO's Media and Think Tank Summit serves as a precursor to the leaders' summit set to take place in Tianjin City from August 31 to September 1. KUNA's delegation also includes Acting Editor-in-Chief Mohammad Al-Bahar and Head of Marketing and Public Relations Lamia Al-Farsi.
